Last month we received the very sad news from Stuart Browne that his mother Doreen had died peacefully after a short battle with Cancer
At this time, all we can do at Radlett CC is to express our sincere condolences to Stuart and the whole family for the loss of one of our best loved Life Members whose family came to Radlett in 1995, and took prominent roles throughout their 30 years at the club. Doreen has been holding so many important roles in our Young Players section, while managing our club membership administration as well as being formally recognized for her record-breaking 50 years of scoring for Radlett and for hundreds of mid-week matches all round the Country. Only last season she was still scoring in two and sometimes three Herts Senior matches a week. Our main ground scorebox will be a fitting reminder of Doreen and husband Michael for their generous sponsorship and the time they gave to the club.
Doreen’s Funeral Service will be at the West Herts Crematorium on Thursday 14th March at 2.40pm, and Peter, Stuart and her family would be pleased to see as many of us who are able to join her for the Service and afterwards to celebrate Doreen’s life back at our Pavilion for refreshments.
As many of you will know, Doreen's love of cricket took her all over the country in her role as the scorer for many organisations which was clear from the love and respect shown by the hundreds of messages received by her family over the last weeks.
Doreen's favourite colour was red as was evident when you met her, whether it was her clothes, her red nail polish or her cashmere jumpers and coats. For that reason, Peter and Stuart would like as many of you who would feel comfortable wearing something red to please do so.
And for those who like to wear a tie, please make it your Radlett tie, or one of the other clubs or organisations that you associate with Doreen.
We look forward to seeing you on the 14th March to celebrating Doreen's life and her time with us over the past seasons.
