We are delighted to announce our exciting 3-Phase plan to improve the lower ground at Cobden Hill, which will provide improved playing and training conditions for all club players.
Late last week we presented our plan to some of our YP parents, with a zoom session planned for Tuesday 2nd July to capture the remaining parents who, due to the unfortunate cancellation of YP training last Sunday, missed seeing the presentation.
At the meetings, we promised to circulate the attached information and we also wish to broaden this appeal to the wider club membership, hoping that we can count on the fullest support for our 3-Phase project.
Last week, a brand-new non-turf wicket was installed which will provide an excellent, safe match playing surface for our youngest players and also improved training conditions for all players. This, Phase I of the project, was fully funded by the club from existing funds.
Phase II work is scheduled for early September 2024 which will involve lifting 50-70mm of the turf surface across the entire 10 wicket square, filling with new loam, laser levelling and re-seeding. The ground will then be left to propagate through the winter and, in 2025, provide much improved playing surfaces for both YP and senior players.
Phase III involves improvements to the pavilion, both in terms of space and male/female toileting facilities which, if we raise sufficient funds, we could undertake the work during the winter, meaning the entire lower ground will have been upgraded for 2025, which would be a fantastic collective achievement by the club and its members.
We hope that everyone will be both supportive of the plans and may wish to help the club bring about these improvements by donating to the project as follows:
(*) Please note that all donations will be ringfenced into a bank account specifically for this project
(**) As an anti-scam precaution, please call Colin Chatfield on 07834 528317 to confirm the banking details before making your payment.

The club would like to thank you in advance for any level of support you feel able to offer in order to make this exciting project ‘come to life’
